Several thermal conductive materials commonly used for heat dissipation of electronic products
From:admin    Add time:2021-02-23
Thermally conductive materials are auxiliary materials for electronic products. Their role is to solve the heat dissipation problem of electronic products, thereby improving the operating speed, reliability, stability and service life of electronic products. It is an indispensable part of electronic products.
Why use thermal conductive materials in electronic products?
1. There is a slight uneven gap between the surface of the electronic material and the radiator. If they are installed directly together, the actual contact area between them is only 10% of the area of the radiator base, and the rest are air gaps. Because the thermal conductivity of the air is only 0.024W/(m.K), the contact thermal resistance between the electronic components and the radiator is very large, which seriously hinders the conduction of heat and causes the efficiency of the radiator to be low.
2. Fill these gaps with a thermally conductive material with high thermal conductivity, exclude the air, and establish a heat conduction channel between the electronic component and the radiator, which can greatly increase the contact area between the heat source and the radiator and reduce the contact thermal resistance. Make the radiator play a good role.

The following thermal conductive materials:
1. Thermally conductive silicone sheet:
In the industry, it is also called thermally conductive silicone pad, thermally conductive silicon film, soft thermally conductive pad, etc. It is specially produced for the design of using gaps to transfer heat. It can fill the gaps and complete the heat transfer between the heating part and the heat dissipation part. It also plays the role of insulation, shock absorption, sealing, etc., can meet the design requirements of equipment miniaturization and ultra-thinness, has manufacturability and usability, and has a wide range of thicknesses. It is a good thermally conductive filling material. The design can reduce the process difference requirements of the radiator and the heat dissipation structure, the construction is simple and convenient, and can be reused.

2. Thermally conductive silicone grease:
Thermally conductive silicone grease has high cost performance and is a common thermal conductive material in electronic heat dissipation. Using silicone as the main raw material, adding materials with excellent heat resistance and thermal conductivity, the thermally conductive silicone grease-like compound is used for the heat conduction and heat dissipation of electronic components such as power amplifiers, transistors, electron tubes, CPUs, etc. Ensure the stability of the electrical performance of electronic instruments, meters, etc. However, the operation is not very convenient. The general thermal paste will have silicone oil precipitated, which will dry up and pulverize after a long time, and lose the thermal conductivity. Therefore, the use of thermal paste is not recommended for electronic products with a long service life.

3. Thermally conductive double-sided adhesive:
Thermally conductive double-sided adhesive is made of acrylic polymer filled with thermally conductive ceramic powder and compounded with organic silicone adhesive. It has high thermal conductivity and insulation properties, and has softness, compressibility, conformability and strong adhesion. It can adapt to a large temperature range, can fill uneven surfaces, can tightly and firmly fit the heat source device and the heat sink, and quickly conduct heat away. It is mainly used for bonding heat sinks and heating equipment. The construction method is very simple and convenient. You only need to place the heat conductive double-sided paste between the heat sink and the heat sink, press it tightly, and the heat sink is firmly fixed on the heat sink. It is simple and convenient to use, which helps to improve production efficiency. Its heat dissipation effect is more obvious than that of ordinary heat dissipation stickers, greatly improving the life of the components, and it is the best choice for thermally conductive electronic products. It should be noted that the bonding surface must be clean and not suitable for bonding printing and electroplating surfaces.

4. Thermally conductive graphite sheet:
The crystallization of special process and advanced technology, extraordinary thermal conductivity and low resistance are materials used in special occasions. Its thermal conductivity and flexibility of the material itself meet the heat dissipation and installation requirements of power devices. The thermal conductivity is high, the material is relatively thin, the cost performance is high, the longitudinal thermal conductivity is strong, and the hot spot area can be quickly removed. However, it should be noted that the thermal conductive graphite sheet is not insulated, the material is relatively brittle, and the loss is large during punching. (If insulation is required, it can be covered with an insulating film or glued).

5. Thermal mud:
The heat-conducting mud application process can be made into a sheet-like product with high compression rate or made into a semi-fluid state according to the needs of customers to meet the automatic dispensing process, and is not hindered by the shape and size of electronic components. It has good thermal conductivity and excellent caulking effect. It can be kneaded arbitrarily, and the feel is similar to plasticine.

6. Thermally conductive silicone cloth:
Thermally conductive silicone cloth is a silicone polymer elastomer reinforced with glass fiber as the base material. It is also called thermally conductive silicone cloth, a tear-resistant silicone cloth. This silicone cloth can effectively reduce the gap between the electronic components and the radiator. High thermal resistance, electrical insulation, high dielectric strength, good thermal conductivity, high chemical resistance, and can withstand short circuits caused by high voltage and metal piercing. It is a substitute for traditional mica and silicone grease. An excellent thermal insulation material. It can be processed into any specifications and shapes, and can be glued.
