Car camera heat dissipation, choosing a good material is the key

The on-board camera is an important part of the advanced driver assistance system. Currently, cars have one to nine cameras-the number and technical types of cameras are increasing rapidly. According to the application field, it can be divided into driving assistance (driving recorder, ADAS and active safety system), parking assistance (whole car surround view) and vehicle personnel monitoring, which runs through the whole process from driving to parking. The safety of drivers and passengers usually depends on the visibility of the camera, so the reliability of the performance of these optical systems is very important.
The structure of the camera includes a lens, a base, an infrared filter, an image sensor, a PCB, and an FPC. The two that have the greatest impact on the image quality are the image sensor and the lens. The image sensor is a device that converts light signals into electrical signals, and is the most important component of the camera. High-end imaging sensors will be used to identify road signs, street lights and pedestrians crossing the road, and provide collision avoidance for autonomous driving. One advantage of these sensors is that they can capture images at the high frequency end of the spectrum, which may not be visible to the human eye. Due to thermal noise, the resolution quality of the image will deteriorate as the temperature rises.
High thermal load will definitely hinder the performance of the camera, and additional heat sinks and matching thermal interface materials are needed to improve the heat dissipation of the camera. Hefei Aoqi Electronics can provide customers with low volatility, low oil permeability and high thermal conductivity interface material solutions to ensure the normal operation of vehicle cameras.
